Person Centred Counselling

Rebecca Gallop – MSc Counselling Psychology, BSc (Hons), RNDipHE, MBACP

A Person Centred Counselling Approach

Person centred counselling is a branch of humanistic therapy which focuses on the person as an individual, believing that humans have an innate tendency to develop towards their full potential. This potential can become blocked or distorted by life experiences, in particular, those that affect the person’s sense of worth or value. Person centred counselling provides an environment where the client feels valued and accepted and better able to understand their own feelings. The counsellor helps them to reconnect with their inner values and sense of worth, enabling them to find their own way to moving towards their potential. Clients are valued as experts in their own life experiences and have the necessary resources within themselves for growth and change.

About Therapy Nest Counselling

What you might expect from a one-to-one person-centred counselling session with me is the sense of calm, safety and sanctuary, being listened to, and most importantly, heard in a non-judgmental and accepting way. I currently work with adults only.

Virtual Therapy – Online/Phone/Email

Virtual sessions have become a very popular way of accessing therapy. They can be really helpful if you are more comfortable accessing counselling in a way that is more convenient and is particularly useful if you want more flexibility of time and place to enable you to access sessions. Find out more about virtual therapy sessions here.

Eco therapy/walk and talk

Eco-arts therapy combines eco-therapy (nature based healing) and creative arts therapies. Eco-therapy connects us with nature. By spending more time in nature, in all weather, you will be more connected to the natural cycles of the year, enabling you to tune into sights, sounds and smells of the natural world that are accessible whenever and however you need them. Find out more about Eco-arts therapy sessions here.

Frequency of sessions

I offer weekly or fortnightly sessions, brief in nature or long term. The frequency is set by you.

Fees

I offer a sliding scale of fees depending on your circumstances. Please contact me to discuss your requirements. Payment is made in advance of the session by bank transfer or PayPal to secure the time/date of session required.

Having been in therapy myself, I know how daunting it can be to take that first step into having counselling, a warm welcome awaits you, do pop me a message and say hello, I would love to hear from you.

About Me

I’m Rebecca and I am the founder of the therapy nest, my private counselling and psychotherapy practice based in Staffordshire, UK.

Experience

I began my counselling training in 2010, after many years working in the NHS as a nurse, and then as a forest school leader and early years practitioner. I volunteered for 8 years with Cruse Bereavement Care, and Staffordshire Women’s Aid. I have since worked with a NHS community mental health team as a rapid responder working with service users accessing mental health services.
